8 Watch Trends for 2022 Every Man Must Know

The watch market continues to move at a breakneck speed, whether you're a newcomer to the hobby or a seasoned pro on the lookout for the greatest 2022 watch trends. There are as many watch trends as there are in the fields of fashion, home goods, design, and footwear for something as age-old and time-honored (pun intended) as a stylish timepiece. It's all about finding a watch that suits you and your personality, whether it's one of the greatest digital watches or something with more opulent stylings.

For the time being, the top watch trends of 2022 will resemble what we saw in the watch market in 2021. Consider boutique firms' increasingly unusual, practically one-of-a-kind designs, as well as an emphasis on vintage timepieces and even well-known merchants offering watches in their own right. What are the trendiest, most fashionable timepieces to wear in 2022 and beyond? We're grateful you inquired. These are a few of our favorite new and upcoming releases.

Watches for Menswear

Todd Snyder + Timex Watches:

Rowing Blazers teamed with Seiko in 2021, and designer Todd Snyder is one noteworthy example of a menswear business collaborating with a reputable watch company. Those watches soon sold out, and Snyder's continued cooperation with Timex (which will enter its sixth year in 2022) is gaining traction. Snyder does it better than anybody else in the business, scouring the Timex archives for desirable, inexpensive timepieces with his uniquely all-American, Midwest-meetsNYC design.

Through the years, these watches have ranged from immaculate leather dress watches to racinginspired timepieces on fabric straps. Again, believe it or not, that's only scraping the surface, but we can't get enough of what designers like Snyder intend to do with an entire treasure trove of gorgeous timepieces to customize.

Shift Vintage Rolex: Because long-running and ever-popular retailer now carries and sells a large range of vintage timepieces, you could call this trend a continuation of the "menswear meets watches" approach we outlined above. The preppy business has adopted a one-stop-shop strategy that makes it easier than ever for smart men to obtain vintage watches. Dapper gentlemen can now select a timeless timepiece to complement a wide range of chambray shirts, skillfully faded jeans, rough leather boots, and more. We've also seen retailers collaborate with specialist stores to create a "shop-within-a-shop" experience, such as collaboration with antique watch experts.

These are truly splurge-worthy prices, and quantities are extremely limited, so act fast if you want to possess and wear a piece of history.

Nixon Porter Leather Watch: Something we saw more of in 2021, and something we anticipate to see more of this year. The strap, the hardware, the dial, the inscriptions, and even the details on the crown and watch pushers are all done up in styles in the case of chronograph watches.

The all-black design for basic style is an extension of timepieces built for tactical functionality, the type of watch that needs to blend in rather than stick out. However, that style has now made its way onto the streets and onto your wrist, and watches at all price point best represent it. This inexpensive Nixon watch is a stone-cold stunner that looks terrific and wears well with just about anything you can think, including black jeans, beat-up black boots, a fresh black tee, and a black leather jacket for our money's worth. Now is the time to try this trend, and you'll thank us later.

TUDOR Black Bay Fifty-Eight Bronze: While many watchmakers continue to push the envelope in terms of materials and design, few go as far as TUDOR does. The venerable watchmaker is leading the way in a growing trend of creating watches from unusual materials other than stainless steel and titanium, particularly diving watches. TUDOR developed a patented high-performance aluminum bronze alloy material in the production of this watch, which creates a patina unique to your personal wearing habits. Other companies, such as Hamilton, make field watches with bronze cases and field-ready cloth straps that are just as tough. Still, if you want to embrace the all-bronze trend, a watch constructed entirely of bronze alloy is as appropriate a way to do so as any.

Shinola Guardian Watch

Like the ticking of a clock or that timepiece on your wrist, watch trends come and go. However, there is one trend we're excited to see more of in 2022. That of distinctively classic, sophisticated, and attractive watch shapes, such as Shinola's pleasingly squared-off, non-severe dial design. Elegant square watches, such as the renowned Cartier Tank, have long been a safe bet for a square or rectangular watch.

This Shinola Guardian Watch is a larger, more modern version of the classic design. It reminds me of the Guardian Building in Detroit and Art Deco architecture, which is always a good trend to follow if you want a style that is both timeless and current. Consider a watch in this type to be both a bold dress watch and a pristine casual watch, suitable for wearing with a tough field jacket or your finest suit.

Oris: Oris would be unable to produce its large, bold dive watches without the deep blue water. As a result, the Swiss brand has a long history of supporting subaqueous organizations. The Oris Hangang Limited Edition is the company's most recent gesture.

The Hangang Limited Edition, released in collaboration with the Korea Foundation for Environmental Movement, donates a portion of its profits to a clean-up effort on the same-named river South Korea's second longest. With an automatic movement powering an emerald dial (inspired by the creeks of the Hangang's source) and an etched caseback representing the river's route across Korea, the item is as good as its goals.

Hamilton: The industry was not always centered in Switzerland. American watchmakers also had a hand in the industry, combining small-town Main Street aesthetics with large, impressive mechanisms. Hamilton was in the vanguard of the movement.

A 1968 vintage piece has now been re-released. Yes, it now features stunning Swiss innards, but little has changed on the outside. This is a good thing. For all the luxury and extravagance of a diamond-encrusted automatic from the Jura, a 'aw shucks' midwestern mentality has just as much charm.

Gucci: We adore this timepiece. The Grip is unlike anything else on the market – idiosyncratic, cool, and strikingly different without being silly – which is exactly how Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele likes it.

Unisex, inspired by skateboarding, and, once you factor in the different number of cases, strap options, and the fact it comes in both 35 and 38mm, available in at least 30 different combinations, The Grip is unlike anything else on the market – idiosyncratic, The cushion cover is comfortable to wear, and telling the time with three disks that reveal the hour, minute, and date is straightforward.
